Skill Issue Coffee Roasters is a micro-roastery based in Singapore, and we're here because we got tired of coffee that didn't taste like much.

We wanted to explore what happens when you actually let the coffee speak for itself. Unusual cultivars, wild fermentation experiments, origins that don't get nearly enough attention, all presented with the kind of clarity and transparency that makes you go "oh, so THIS is what they meant."

What we're after are coffees that are bright, juicy, and complex enough to keep you interested from first sip to last. Coffees where you can actually taste the work that farmers put in, day in and day out, rain or shine, to grow something worth paying attention to.

That's what we source. That's what we roast. And if we mess it up along the way (we have, and we will again), at least we're honest about it :/

But that’s something that doesn’t happen all that often because we obsess over sample roasts until we find the profile that lets each coffee show off what makes it special without being muddied by roast flavors from either side of the spectrum, whether that be hay & cereal or charcoal & smoke. Simply put, we're here to let the coffee do its thing.

Our lineup skews lighter, which means if you're chasing that bold, punch-you-in-the-face body, you're going to be disappointed. You might even take your first sip and think "this is just sour bean water, what are these people on about?"

But hey, try picturing biting into a perfectly ripe apple or orange. That balance of bright acidity and natural sweetness that makes you immediately reach for another bite? That's the vibe. As a certain Mr. Hoffman wisely put it, "Coffee is a journey...and great coffee exists across a spectrum."

Your palate isn't fixed. Give it time, venture outside your usual comfort zone, try things that sound weird or intimidating. You'll start picking up on details you never noticed before. Suddenly that "sour" becomes "vibrant" and you're wondering why you ever settled for flat, one-dimensional coffee in the first place.

And when you inevitably get hooked?

Do us a favor: share the wealth. Drag someone else down into this wonderfully expensive, endlessly fascinating specialty coffee rabbit hole with you. Misery loves company, and we could always use more fellow Weird Coffee People™️ around here.

Oh one more thing - if your brews not nice, then yeah you’re prolly the one with the skill issue. xD
