An Ethiopian with the fines. But washed. Well, picture the natural Ethiopians we’ve all come to love with their floral notes and peach-like sweetness, but dialed down a bit. Now, add a lively lemony acidity that gives it an extra dimension. That's what you'll find in this lot from the famed Duwancho washing station in Arbegona, Sidama.

Named after a local fruit, the village this coffee is grown at sits between 1950 to 2100 meters above sea level, with annual rainfall ranging from 1601 to 2400mm. These ideal conditions contribute to the coffee's exceptional quality, reflected in the numerous awards the washing station has won. Duwancho Village placed 2nd in the 2021 CoE competition and 14th in 2022, with a natural-processed lot winning 3rd place at the 2022/23 Ethiopian Taste of Harvest (ToH) competition.

The Duwancho washing station is owned by smallholders of the Duwancho cooperative. Formed in 2019 by smallholders hailing from the Duwancho, Rumudamo, Bochesa and Shamatanto villages, the cooperative seeks to further improve the quality of their coffees. Since then, they have built a coffee warehouse, an African drying bed, and purchased more land for drying coffee, further showcasing their commitment to excellence.
